The Meldezettel is Austria's mandatory address registration document. Every person living in Austria — including EU and EEA citizens — must register their address at the local Meldeamt (registration office) within three days of moving in. This guide explains exactly which documents you need, how to complete the Meldezettel form, where to submit it, and what happens if you fail to register. The Meldezettel is required for opening a bank account, getting a tax number, and accessing most public services in Austria.
