Temporary Residence Registration (Přechodný pobyt)
Deadline: Register within 30 days of arrival for stays over 30 days. For stays over 3 months, apply for a certificate.
Processing Time: Registration: same day. Residence certificate: up to 30 days processing.
Fees: Free for EU citizens
Appointment: Appointment recommended at OAMP offices (book online). Walk-in possible but expect long queues.
Required Documents:
- Valid passport or EU/EEA national ID card
- Completed registration form
- Proof of accommodation — rental contract, booking confirmation, or declaration from host
- For stays over 3 months: proof of employment (work contract) OR proof of self-employment (živnostenský list) OR proof of studies OR proof of sufficient funds (~CZK 100,000/year) and health insurance
Where to Do It:
OAMP offices (Odbor azylové a migrační politiky). In Prague: Koněvova 188/32, Prague 3. Offices in Brno, Ostrava, Plzeň, and other cities. Use the OAMP website to find your local office.
If You Don't Do It:
Fines of up to approximately CZK 3,000 for late registration of accommodation. Fines of up to approximately CZK 100,000 for residing without a valid certificate after 3 months.
Regional Variations: Prague has the busiest office with longest wait times. Regional offices are generally faster.
