Deadline: Register before starting employment or self-employment
Processing Time: 1–2 weeks
Fees: Free
Appointment: No appointment needed. Walk-in or apply by email.
Required Documents:
- Valid passport or ID card
- Proof of Maltese address
- eResidence card or application receipt
- Employment contract or company registration
- Completed TA1 form (available at cfr.gov.mt)
Where to Do It:
Commissioner for Revenue offices. Main office: Centre Point Building, Mdina Road, Żebbuġ. Also accessible online via cfr.gov.mt.
If You Don't Do It:
May not be able to be legally employed. Employer faces penalties for paying unregistered workers.
Regional Variations: Same process for Malta and Gozo.
