The eResidence Card is Malta's official residence document for EU and EEA citizens confirming their right of residence under EU free movement rules. It is issued by Identity Malta (Agenzija Identita) and replaces the older paper-based EU Registration Certificate. This guide explains the application process at the Identity Malta office in Valletta, required documents including proof of employment or self-sufficiency and health insurance, the application fee, processing time, and the difference between the eResidence Card for EU citizens and the standard residence permit issued to non-EU nationals.
