Finnish Immigration Service (Migri)

Deadline: Register within 3 months of arrival if staying over 3 months
Processing Time: 2–4 weeks processing
💰Fees: €54 (online) or €58 (paper)
📅Appointment: No appointment needed for online applications. In-person: appointment required at Migri service points.
Required Documents:
  • Valid passport or EU/EEA national ID card
  • Proof of employment (work contract) OR proof of self-employment (Y-tunnus registration) OR enrollment certificate OR proof of sufficient funds (~€700/month) and comprehensive health insurance
  • Completed application (online via Enter Finland portal at enterfinland.fi)
  • Passport-sized photo (uploaded digitally for online applications)
Where to Do It:

Apply online at enterfinland.fi (recommended). In-person at Migri service points — Helsinki (Käenkuja 3A), Turku, Tampere, Oulu, and others. Visit by appointment only.

If You Don't Do It:

Fines may apply for late registration. Without registration you may not be able to get a Finnish personal identity code, which blocks access to healthcare, banking, and employment.

Regional Variations: Same process nationwide. Helsinki office is busiest. Online application recommended regardless of location.
